Limerick - Time

A limerick on time... not easy at all so I tried being a smart donkey* and came up with this.

Parsley sage rosemary and thyme,
gently sung, make a recipe fine,
but due to the stress
instead we possess
nasty rage because we've no time.

Talk about awkward. Did anyone spot the Simon and Garfunkel thing going on? I found this prompt very, very difficult. So for better examples, check out Mad Kane's Prompts here.

On other news: There is no more dancing for me for some time. My foot is absolutely stuffed for anything and it is very annoying. The ache is constant and I think it is that which is bringing me down. I can't spin because it aggravates the tendon so you can imagine what walking does to it and it is amazing to me how many times I go up and down stairs each day. One of those things you don't notice until it becomes an inconvenience.Oh and Rose woke me up last night with a nightmare about her school problems. So that is another thing that needs to be addressed and sharpish. I figure when a kid starts having nightmares about school the problem is only escalating. ^%$*&")* school! And I don't know what to do...

Coffee and painkillers for me I think and it has to be knitting and a good calming CD on pronto.
Hope you guys have a wonderful day. Go and dance for me will you?

*C'mon, you know what I am talking about.

Limerick - Lies and Deception

Not a happy topic this week :( so...

Think of lies and deception and I wanted to think of used car sales men and cowboy builders but I have little experience with either thank goodness. However, hard on their heels was of course love gone wrong. Not had much experience of that either. All my experience has taught me that the joy was worth the pain. However, I've read enough tragic poetry to get the gist of bitter. So here is mine -

Although you were lapsang souchong*
From your backside I thought the sun shone
Oh you batted your eyes
Sighed sweet pretty lies
Now I'm wondering where you have gone

*Yes I know it is tea,but it is smokey - get it? Smokey...deceptive? Okay I know it's thin but I'm sure you can run with it if you try.

The 'ku is nastier

I chose to believe
Sweet, you did not deceive me
I deceived myself

New Year - Limerick

The clock close to midnight it stands.
Pop champagne and then strike up the band.
Two thousand and eight
is potentially great -
let's go and grab life with both hands

Not that fussed with this one really as it is not witty and witty a limerick must be in my book. That said, it is probably as good as I am going to get right now. At least it scans, even if purists would take issue with the dropped s on the second line (it should be bands). I know the rules you see, I just don't always play within them.

For other New year Spirits, check out Mad Kane's Limerick and 'Ku prompt.

Limerick prompt - multi tasking

This one was pretty hard to do. Limericks are supposed to be amusing at least, if not out and out funny and it is kind of hard to be amusing about multi tasking, as it is such a massive part of life. So here is my effort anyway. It is not autobiographical - I like the odd cocktail as Dizzy will tell you but so far, and sometimes to my huge surprise, I have stayed away from alcohol dependency. I have other addictions to indulge in. Plus withdrawal's a bitch.

When my life was not in the pink,
I'd the impulse to take to hard drink.
Now something eludes me
and that something includes the
ability to talk and think

...simultaneously.

Poetry prompt - Annoying Advice

Thanks to Patois for the latest poetry prompt from Kane. I don't write limericks as a rule but this took the time very pleasantly. And here is mine, constructed out of annoying advice.

Just relax the midwife told me.
Stop running away from that bee.
There's no use repining,
look for silver linings.
There's plenty more fish in the sea.
