January

The flower for January. Spindly frail but strong enough to hammer through snow.

It was snowing again as we drove over Sarn Hill to meet with friends today but the flakes were dry and blew over the road like smoke. It is still bitingly cold.

I am ready for spring I think.

Today's Tidbit

I have been a bit quiet lately, basically because I have not had much to say really. But to let you know that I have not died, here is a snippet of conversation from school sports day to keep you going...

[In the canteen, waiting for the obligatory fund-raising raffle to be drawn]

Headmaster: And the winning ticket is - pause - 444
Me (muttering) : A fraction of the beast
V: (Sputters as tea goes up his nose) : Two thirds actually

Another pause while Head waits for the nutters at the back to stop giggling.

And while we are wandering round the edges of pointless meandering, here's one you might not have met before...

Latest Bits

These are some shell and crystal stitch markers and a skein of beaded blue faced leicester yarn. Now I have yak to ply and skein up as well as silk to dye. This is fun!
Have a happy, busy day.

Of Hats

S-You need a hat.
V-No I don't.
S-You do, your ears almost dropped off on Rhigos Mountain the other day.
V-Fix my black one then
S-I'll ruin it and I don't possess a titanium needle or mammoth hide thimble (leather hats are a bugger to sew don't you find?) What about a flat cap?

(V) Pointless, won't keep the ears warm
(S) We could get one in black
(V)...and I am not becoming a flatcapper, ever
(S) James May wears one...
(V) What's the shortest answer?...NO.

(V) Absolutely not.
(S) Now that would keep your ears warm
(V) Hell, No!

I just got a Withering Look.

V- Hmmmn...it has a chin strap. It might work, do they have it in black?
S- It will garrote you at 60mph you noodle.
V- No it won't.
S- Of course it will. This is made for horseriders, top speed 30 max. You are nuts.

The conversation descended to nursery level from there. I won't bore you any further.

And as for myself...

I'll go for this one and flog sundry bystanders to death.

Hat pics came from Hats and That.

Bits and Bobs

Earth hour tonight at 8 pm. Probably the smallest thing a person can do to be a bit green, hardly even green at all, light peppermint maybe. Check it out here There is a sturdy amount of info and at this hour in the morning I am not prepared to do more than link.

Also, my thanks to UL for this...

I think I shall pass this on to my blogging buddies Dizzy, Pippa, Patois, Pilgrim, Greg, Jessica and Techno Doll. I love the fact that you drop by and your comments brighten my day. Thanks for that. xxx

I have finished the rabbit block and will post a pic later on today after I have finally managed to get some sleep. I hate I hate I hate insomnia.

I am off to bed now, to stare into the darkness and think.
Nos da fy cariad, hope you sleep well.
